Clients are never the go-between—managing separate conversations and separate visions with an interior designer, architect and landscape designer. Instead, there is one shared vision from the outset, with everyone communicating directly and listening to the client's needs. The result is fewer iterations, better buildability and a more resolved outcome from every angle, with nothing missed along the way.
Bringing everyone together early also means decisions are made in the right order, and interiors, architecture, landscape and furniture aren’t developed separately. Each discipline contributes at the moment it has the greatest impact, whether that’s the proportions and placement of a window in relation to the pool and landscape, the view and feeling it creates from inside the room, or how the architecture and interior palette speak to one another. These decisions are never made in isolation; they’re all part of the same experience, creating better continuity and helping avoid compromises or costly changes further down the track.
Combining decades of experience with architect Ilana Kister and landscape designer Heath Blair of Plume, Romy shares a rigour for detail, a respect for each other’s craft and a collective commitment to the best possible result for the home as a whole.
Aligning from the beginning also reduces duplicated work, unnecessary back-and-forth and the number of revisions required later, with any potential conflicts between disciplines resolved within the team rather than passed on to the client. It’s a more efficient use of everyone’s time.
Because priorities and investment are considered across the entire home, rather than by each discipline working to its own isolated brief or budget, the team can collectively identify where to invest, where to simplify, and which decisions will have the most impact on how a home looks, feels and functions.
Homeroom Studio knows not every project requires every discipline. The team is shaped around what each project actually needs. Sometimes that’s the full team, sometimes it’s one discipline working closely with Romy, but every client benefits from the same holistic thinking, shared philosophy and approach.
