The client emphasised the importance of incorporating colour in a refined and measured manner. The composition needed to achieve balance – fostering harmony between the architecture, the interiors, and furnishings. A warm feature stone with subtle movement was specified to beautifully contrast the dark timber joinery. The timber flooring, in turn, provided a reprieve from the bold elements. Opulent furniture with decadent velvet upholstery was thoughtfully selected to introduce a sense of softness within an environment with strong lines. A rich, warm palette enveloped the home in an intimate and inviting embrace. A collective effort by architects, interior designers and landscape designers, the Balaclava House culminated in a seamlessly cohesive home which exudes charm and sophistication.
